Can I process recurring transactions, like a subscription?
If your payment facilitator enables recurring transactions, you can process subscriptions, membership fees, etc. Before you can process a card for recurring transactions, you are required to obtain cardholder approval in the form of an agreement for the ongoing charges. Upon notice of cardholder cancellation, you must immediately cancel future transactions associated with the recurring schedule.

Yes, in some cases you may take a deposit for a good or service, particularly if the good or service is delivered/provided at a later date.

Can I take cash advances?
Unless you are explicitly authorized, you cannot take cash advances, cash disbursements, or cash equivalent disbursements. Some examples of cash advances are card transactions in exchange for cash, or virtual currencies.

What are card acceptance best practices?
The following is a limited list of best practices for accepting cards:
Display the logo of all cards you accept (Visa, Discover, etc.) in customer-facing materials
Minimum acceptance amount cannot exceed $10
Minimum acceptance amount must be applied to all card brands equally
Maximum credit card limits cannot be implemented (with some exceptions for federal entities or higher education)
Taxes must be included in the card transaction
Create receipts for all transactions
Discounts, rebates, or incentives must be applied equally for all card brands
You may express a preferred payment method; however, you must honor all valid cards without discrimination when properly presented for payment
You may promote a preferred payment method through marketing materials and/or communications to a customer
